The streets were filling up. My windshield was covered in rain drops as I drove to Brenna's session. "Little rain drops, go somewhere else for a couple of hours," I muttered with the hum of the windshield wipers in the background. But miracle of miracles! The little corner of Ft. Worth where Brenna's bridal session took place was high and dry. The sky threatened rain during our session, but none fell, making it a lovely cool, cloudy day. :)

Brenna is just the most beautiful person inside and out. I don't think I've ever met anyone as sweet and kindhearted. Her mom and sister came along to help too, and we just had a ball. It was such a peaceful session, with the cloudy skies and Brenna all smiles and joy. We also had some super fun props, including a vintage car! The owners graciously let us use it--I can't say a big enough thank you! During our planning for the session, Brenna mentioned that her colors were coral, grey, and green, so I brought along my favorite antique chair that just happened to be coral!

Brenna and David tied the knot on Saturday, so I'm happy to show you her bridal portraits! Don't you love her style? I just adore her dress and of course, her headband! Enjoy!

Brenna, you are an absolute sweetheart and a dear to work with! You have such a natural grace and beauty, and a sweet spirit to match. David is a lucky man! :) Can't wait for you to see your wedding photos! I'd heard descriptions of the location; a few phrases that stuck out were restored loft, reclaimed brick building, and old power company, so I knew we were in for something good. Sure enough, rounding a corner, situated between old industrial buildings, sat the little gem known as "Off The Grid." And that pretty much described the wedding day!

We were greeted by a sweet chalkboard, proclaiming that this was the day! Upon entering, we indeed saw the three story goodness that had been described. Alicia was contentedly walking around in a navy maxi dress, hair done and looking gorgeous, giving last minute instructions on table settings. I was immediately swept up in the details that had been so carefully chosen. Alicia and Chris know how to put a wedding together! But one thing I loved was that, while they were super invested in their details, they didn't give time to any detail that wasn't personally important to them...aka they didn't just do things for the sake of tradition. This awesome approach made the day so personal! For example, Alicia wore this eye-catching flower hair piece that was flown in from Israel, but she didn't want to carry a bouquet. The flower hair piece was so Alicia.

After the sweet ceremony, performed by Alicia's dad, we got to climb some very steep stairs to take photos on the roof of the building. And hello Dallas skyline! :) The reception was so fun, and the whole room got the giggles when the toasts began. My goodness, they were the funniest, wittiest, and cleverest toasts I've ever heard! I mean, how do people get that witty? I'm jealous. :)

Enjoy the photos!

Alicia & Chris I just love you guys! I've loved getting to know you, and I really loved how "you" your wedding was. Such a great approach to a wedding. I hope you guys love your photos as much as I do. Thank you again for having me to photograph your wedding. I wish you all the best. Keep in touch! She described, with evident enthusiasm, her wedding day details including the grand lake house, white tent, and delightful bridesmaids dresses. The afternoon of her wedding, I slipped into the room where all the girls were getting ready, and their excitement was absolutely filling up the room! I couldn't help but smile myself as I began photographing these sweet friends who shared in Laura's joy and kept it real with plenty of inside jokes and laugh-inducing remember-when stories. As the ceremony time approached, Laura kept sneaking peeks out the windows facing the lawn where they would exchange their vows. Finally, the anticipated time came and Laura stepped out the doors to greet friends, family, and a Texas sunset over the lake. Oh yes, and Colby, the love of her life who stood waiting for her. It was finally their wedding day.

Laura and Colby, my goodness how I loved getting to know you two! You both have a way of making others around you feel appreciated and at ease. The joy and excitement you shared on your wedding day was so contagious, and I was so happy to be there! Thank you for having me to photograph your incredible wedding. Nothing brings people together like a wedding, and this particular wedding brought together so many friends and loved ones. As you scroll down, you'll see Stephanie's bridesmaids as they see their dear friend for the first time as a bride--their expressions are priceless! I was a mixture of tears, smiles, and nods throughout the sacred ceremony. Jon and Stephanie's ceremony was performed by their dads, and I don't think there was a dry eye in the room. You see, Steph and Jon had decided to wait to share their very first kiss at the alter. After such a beautiful ceremony, I'll never forget the way the room itself felt energized and everyone sat up a little straighter as Stephanie's dad announced, "You may kiss the bride..." All of their guests and loved ones burst into joyous applause mixed with lots of oohing and aahing. What a moment!

I've had my little Stella Bell since June 1st, but it was just a couple of days ago that I finally got to take some photos of her/with her. Lacey and I went out to take these photos on perhaps the muggiest day in Texas history. :) That's okay. Despite the mosquito bites, we got some lovely photos so you can meet my sweet pup.

Meet Stella! My 12-week-old German Shepherd. I'm so proud of her, and isn't she just adorable? Her little ears were flopped over when I first brought her home...then they stood up straight...now they are just kind of doing their own thing. :) She's also a giant at 25 pounds already!

So, why a German Shepherd you ask? Many reasons: She's eager to please, active and interested, and learns quickly. She's also huge! I've always wanted a big dog, so I love it! She's loyal. She doesn't drool. She loves riding in the car. She doesn't mindlessly bark. She doesn't shed too much. :) She's beautiful! She's friendly and loves being around people. She's very adaptable to different situations. And lastly, Stella is a sweetheart, but she instinctually knows when to be protective. I love this. :)

So, here we are. Enjoy, and make sure to notice all of her different expressions! :)

I'm sure you remember Anna and Garrett from their awesome engagement session and her gorgeous bridal session. Their story continues here with their breathtaking wedding! I loved every detail and choice Anna made for her wedding! (So much so that I think I would have made the same style choices for my own wedding! :) ) She focused on simplicity, whimsy, meaningful details, and most of all, romance.

Anna and Garrett were married at the amazing Terra Beata Farm just outside of Abilene. Upon arriving, I was greeted by gates adorned with yellow flowers and white, fabric pom-poms. The sweeping Texas horizon was up ahead, and I was filled with joy to be a part of their day. Anna and Garrett are a beautiful couple, inside and out. So many of the sweet photographs you'll see of the two of them are actually candid moments that were just caught for a split second--I loved the authenticity of their love that's visible and heartfelt. :) The last photo of their family hugging and sharing excitement just gets me every time!

I must send out a huge thank you to my excellent second shooters, Lacey Casey and Jennifer Nieland. You girls have no idea what you meant to me that day! Seriously, thank you for your champion talents and upbeat spirits. I loved working with you! :D

I was immediately struck with the beauty of the moment: Here was the bride, completely dressed with every accessory in place, just like it would be on her wedding day. That sweet realization seemed to make everyone's spirits (especially Anna's) soar. I love the image below on the right, because it expresses that quiet energy of that moment when a bride first sees herself.

Anna's bridal session went just the way I think every bridal session should go: peaceful and serene, with threads of anticipation and excitement woven in. She was so radiant, so beautiful, and so herself. Can I just take a moment to say that I am in LOVE with her style! The classy, romantic dress! Her yellow bouquet! That swept-up hair style! These are little glimpses into the style of her wedding (which will be on the blog shortly!).

I was walking up to my Freshman dorm after grocery shopping one night, and she was just happening up the steps too. Heather was gorgeously belting out a song from the musical Wicked, which I had just discovered and fallen in love with. I'd met her a few times, but upon realizing we had a love for Wicked in common, I caught up with her. "Is that the song from Wicked?! I looooooove that song!" Somehow we got to talking about it and she offered to burn a copy of the soundtrack for me. I was out of my mind with excitement over the new friendship AND the CD. It's still in my car to this day and I still love it just as much. :)

I was so happy and honored to photograph Heather and Sean's wedding. They both have a contagious spirit of joy and the absolute best sense of humor! Seriously, I feel like any time I'm around them I'm just giggling at their dry humor. Not only are they an amazing couple, I was so thrilled to see how their family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen were such a solid support for them. Have a special look at the ceremony photos and you'll notice meaningful looks and sweet moments. It's such a reminder that we need people in life, even through all the ups and downs. I'm excited that Heather and Sean have such amazing friends and family.

I also just have to mention how incredibly gorgeous Heather is! She's a radiant, natural beauty anyway, but add to that her stunning wedding dress and WOW. Just wow. :)

One final bit before the photos! I really must give credit to my amazing second shooter Kim Hawkins. She ROCKED the camera and we had so much fun working together! Take special notice of all the groomsmen photos--she captured all of them! Kim- I loved working with you! :)

And finally, the photos. The wedding day was clear and sunny--just lovely. Enjoy!

Well, first of all, this session took place in Austin. If there's one city in Texas that I love, it's Austin. My goodness I love that place! I rarely get to photograph there though, because most of my work is in Dallas. So when Elizabeth contacted me about their Austin wedding, I was so very happy.

Second of all, Elizabeth and Michael were just incredible to work with. Elizabeth has such a beautiful peace to her that just radiates to others; Michael is great bringing out the best in others and making sure everyone feels included. Together, they were just a dream to spend an afternoon with! Not to mention they have got style.

I feel like I got to experience so many fun things during this session, including shooting in a river! We walked up to the edge of this gorgeous river, and suddenly I'm looking over and Elizabeth and Michael are ditching their shoes. Well, I wasn't going to just hang out on the shore--I was going in too! So refreshing and invigorating! As we were getting out and putting our shoes back on, Michael mentioned something about checking your feet for leeches. Um, what?! :) Had he mentioned that beforehand, I probably wouldn't have gotten in at all...but I'm glad he didn't! :)

All of this and it STILL gets better! After our session, Michael and Elizabeth wanted to take Scott and I around Austin to some favorite spots. We got to experience watching the largest urban bat colony underneath Congress Bridge--there were SO many people there to watch them fly at sunset. They also treated us to dinner at the delicious Home Slice Pizza. I'm just looking for an excuse to go back to Austin to eat at Home Slice again! :) Besides all the fun we had, it was just so good to really get to know them as a couple. If you know me at all, or have read my blog for a while, you know that I love my clients. Hanging out and becoming friends is my favorite thing ever.

So now that I've written a book, enjoy the images! :D

Elizabeth and Michael--you were both so wonderful and I LOVED getting to know you! Thank you so much for taking us around. We had a blast and still talk about it! :) Hearing your stories while waiting for the bats to fly will always be one of my favorite memories. I hope you love your photos, and I can't wait until your wedding! Love, Caroline
